The World Before and After Westward Exploration

Many things don't seem important in history but to know how we're here now, we have to know what came before us. Much of this started in the 1400s. The world was moving then, rich empires served as Patrons (people they could pay to study, explore, or create art for the empire). Patronage was important it led to advances in knowledge through trade routes. (An area used by merchants for economic purposes)

After patronage was settled though, Europe came to North and South American many tribes were developing quickly. The Iroquois Confederacy was a "tribe" near the Great Lakes. They were gaining much power over trade and they traded cash crops such as tobacco. The Aztecs are a different story though, they were expanding greatly. Aztec rulers were becoming patrons, mainly fore poets. As for the Incas, their rulers were also patrons! They were patrons for inventors that made and developed technologies. These technologies were for farming, medicine, and bridge building. Lastly, the Songhai empire in Africa was trading across the Sahara desert for salt and gold, that made the empire much wealthier. As a result of that wealth, the leaders of the Songhai empire were patrons for education. People under Songhai's leadership would gather at the  famous libraries of Timbaku.

Before America was discovered, most of the world's people lived in Asia. AT the time China had become the most powerful economy in the world  because they had had traded spices silks, and gold to Europe. As a result, the Ottoman empire was rising between Asia and Europe. Very soon, they gained control of the trade connections between Europe and Asia. They were responsible for stopping trade to Europe.

But how did westward exploration start? In 1490 Ferdinand and Isabella were the king and queen of Spain. They wanted trade routes and income because the Ottoman Empire was gaining control of the trade routes to Asia. Christopher Columbus needed King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to be his patrons. They agreed. The king and queen paid for 3 ships Columbus would use, the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. Columbus would share the profits with the king and queen. Columbus set sail for Spain in 1492 because he thought just sailing westward would lead him to India. Unknowingly, he landed in America and called the Native Americans, Indians, because he thought he landed in India.

Westward exploration was a every important part of our world's history. Many of us wouldn't be here. TO know how everything happened is a very good desire because, it requires the work. To know how the world was affected by history leads to the knowing of the now. That is why everything has a history.
